Now, the question always is, what's the best practice? Should you uninstall DaVinci Resolve? Should you write over it? What used to be done all the time was, people would make a new folder, put Resolve 8 in that folder, and then install Resolve 9 right next to it.
Don't hold back updating to the most current version. As I've said before, Blackmagic is continually doing bug fixes, adding new features, adding new camera support.
But, if by the time you're watching this, there are newer versions of Resolve 12, please absolutely upgrade to the most current version.
